A Major Addition to the Homestead Underway!

Since the late summer, we have been under construction. A large addition is being added onto the main cabin which most of you will remember as the location of the dining room and kitchen during your visits here. Martha and Rod will be moving into this addition in the spring, which will finally allow for us to provide two full bathrooms to our guests!

The addition was designed to match the original cabin with local squared log siding and chinking and board and batten siding for the upper level. The front porch will wrap around to the new addition as well making it look like both buildings were built at the same time. One of our neighbours designed and built a beautiful rustic railing that ties the new porches together. The back porch has a great view of Mount North and the Ibex Valley and will provide a terrific spot for our summer breakfasts. On the main floor, there is a room slated to become the ‘plant room’. This will be where all the seeds are germinated for the gardens that our summer guests enjoy. So the next time you come to visit, expect to see some big changes around the homestead!
