Mush with P.R.I.D.E. (Providing Responsible Information on a Dog’s Environment) is an organization that was created by a group of prominent dog mushers in the state of Alaska and has grown to represent mushing interests all over North America and around the world. Mush with P.R.I.D.E. supports the responsible care and humane treatment of all sled dogs and is dedicated to enhancing the care and treatment of sled dogs in their traditional and modern uses. 

Uncommon Journeys Ltd. is proud to be an active supporter of this important organization, and particularly proud to be the first kennel in Canada to be certified at P.RI.D.E.’s highest level.

Mush with P.R.I.D.E. has created a number of educational programs and publications, ranging from the P.R.I.D.E. education program for children to it’s Voluntary Kennel Certification Program. In the summer of 2004 Uncommon Journeys had a veterinarian visit with us at our kennel and spend a day reviewing the certification requirements of P.R.I.D.E. The vet looked at all aspects of our operation and the quality of life of our dogs, from dietary issues to breeding standards and exercise requirements to our methods of socializing the dogs.

At the end of this process we were pleased to be awarded with “Certification Plus”, the highest rating possible – and are the first kennel in Canada to receive this rating.

We are members of the organization and are involved with the Board of Directors, attempting to spread the mission of P.R.I.D.E throughout all the Provinces and Territories of Canada.
