Adventures in Canada's Yukon by Dog Sled and Canoe
"Thanks for the uncommonly good time! It was truly an incredible experience in beautiful scenery and led by expert guides/cooks/dog handlers. All details were well looked after, all meals were large and very satisfying and all of the dogs were a bundle of fun. Thanks again and I hope to see you all on the trail sometime soon!"

YUKON QUEST TRAIL MUSHING EXPEDITION - TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1.
Guests are met at 3pm at their hotel in Whitehorse or at the Whitehorse International Airport at the time of their flight arrival and driven 30 minutes to the Uncommon Journeys’ Wilderness Lodge and Homestead.

After being outfitted in your arctic gear, there is an evening orientation, Yukon Quest Race presentation and introduction to "Mushing 101". Enjoy a delicious dinner at the Homestead and a relaxing evening soaking under the aurora borealis in the hot tub with your favourite beverage.

Day 2.
After a hearty Yukon breakfast at the Homestead, we go on a daylong dogsled ride to get acquainted with our dogteams, stopping for a fireside lunch at a pretty snow-covered lake. That night following dinner we pack for the trail and review our maps and the coming week.

Days 3-7.
After loading up all our gear (and dogs!) we drive one hour to the take off point on the Yukon Quest Trail at Flat Creek Crossing. For the remainder of the week you and your dog team travel the route of the historic Dawson winter trail and the Yukon Quest race. We stay in expedition tents and sleeping bags while camping out on the trail. We use small tent stoves for a couple hours each evening and in the morning to warm up, dry gear and relax. Dinners are enjoyed around a camp fire or in the cook tent depending on the weather.

Saturday afternoon we are picked up at the Braeburn checkpoint and after a celebratory meal at the famous Braeburn Lodge (home of the world’s largest cinnamon buns) we drive back to the Homestead to pick up your luggage and head into town for your last night in Whitehorse. This evening’s accommodation is not included in the trip fee but may be booked by our office if you prefer.
