Uncommon Journeys' Homestead is found in the beautiful Ibex Valley north of the Yukon's capital, Whitehorse. The only road ends right at the driveway that leads to the Homestead. You could conceivably mush a dog team 150 miles to the Pacific Ocean from our front yard and not see another soul on the entire trip! The Homestead consists of the main log cabin, complete with a sundeck and six-person hot tub, showers, two guest bedrooms, loft library and full cooking and dining facilities. There are two guest log cabins, a 20' guest yurt, a greenhouse, a workshop, a recreation room with a large screen TV, cozy reading area and northern book library and internet access. A horse barn and corrals, and of course many dog houses for our four-legged guides complete this beautiful facility!
The cabins are built from local black spruce squared timbers. In fact, the logs for the main dining room were milled right on the property. The Homestead has been a labour of love for the Taylor’s for ten years now. Each building has been painstakingly built by them and their friends over this time. Every room has a spectacular view of the Coast Mountains. Snowy peaks are seen even in June and July. The pristine Ibex River is a short mountain bike away as is Scout Lake, stocked with rainbow trout, some as large as 15 pounds!
Herbs for your dinner are picked in Martha’s greenhouse and the berries for the evening’s dessert come from a secret berry patch nearby. Our wilderness lifestyle, the relaxing atmosphere, customized service and attention to detail all combine to ensure that our guests come back to visit us again and again and again!
